Position Summary:

Are you interested in entering into the exciting world of food editing? Do you love thinking about new recipes, the latest food trends and what you’re going to cook for dinner? Then Highbury Media has the position for you.


Highbury Media is looking for a creative, dynamic and detail-oriented editor with a passion for food and print media. As our combined new editor of MyKitchen magazine and the assistant editor of Food&Home, you will be responsible for working with our food- and editorial teams to create beautiful monthly content for both of these popular titles. 


Our ideal candidate is someone that is obsessed with all things food and thrives in the fast-paced world of food media. They should have excellent written skills and a solid technical knowledge of food. Great teamwork, collaboration and problem solving skills are also a must! 


Main responsibilities:

•Work closely with the food editor and food team to come up with unique and compelling food content on a monthly basis.

•Assist in creating mood boards for food content that aligns with each title's visual aesthetic.

•Brainstorm, collaborate and help solve challenges regarding food stories

•Edit recipes accordingly to house style

•Write well-researched articles on a variety of food-related topics

•Work closely with our client, editorial- and design teams to produce top quality print-ready content. 

•Along with the team, ensure that both magazines print to deadline each month. 

•Stay up-to-date on the latest food trends, news and culture.


Skills & Qualifications: 

•Bachelor's degree in journalism/English or food related degree

•One year (or more) experience in the food industry, including recipe development

•One year (or more) experience in food editorial, including recipe editing and article writing

•Excellent written and verbal skills (English)

•Interest in developing food content across multiple platforms

•A passion for food, food trends, and food culture and you’re full of ideas on how to cover it all.

•Experience and knowledge of Adobe InDesign/Affinity Designer is a plus
