Highbury Media T/A Habari Media is an independent magazine and digital publishing company responsible for some of the best-performing titles. We are currently looking for a Writer for our SA Rugby brand.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Daily updates on the SA Rugby website
• Compile weekly regulars such Saffas Abroad and school wraps
• Writing features for SA Rugby print issues
• Generating content ideas
• A willingness to develop writing and editorial skills
• News-pick the most engaging stories available on the Early and/or Late scan shift 
• Compile, update, and work to a weekly diary based on the schedules of relevant team and/or competitions
• Write original news stories using quotes from players/coaches/administrators
• Write news stories using information from press releases or other sources
• Write opinion pieces when required

Requirements:

• Show a willingness to develop writing and video skills and grow within the company
• Ensure all content produced is factual, engaging, reader-friendly and of a high standard
• Show an understanding of writing for different audiences, including adapting language and tone
• Develop your sources and contacts within professional networks
• Show initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
• Exercise good time management and meet all deadlines
• Fact-check and self-edit all work
• Good time management skills
